Austria hike

One day in Austria, three of us families with young children decided to go on a "little" leisurely stroll by a mountain lake. It was a picturesque sight. In the first photo, we begin our stroll around the lake. But notice the ice on the mountains in the background?! Keep that in mind...
We stopped at a little play area enroute. Notice the one ice thing has a little hole at the bottom? Someone made a joke about hiking up to it and crawling into the cave. "Vote me out," I said, "You'll never get me in there." Famous last words...
About an hour into the walk, we realized we were indeed headed for the ice cave, and we were a determined lot...or a stupid one. The walk got quite treacherous for little ones, and some needed to be carried. Others, like ours!!, started complaining about being tired. But we carried on...
...and discovered that the ice cave which had once been a pinprick in the distance was actually huge!! I know this photo isn't good because of the lighting, but it's the only one i have that shows the enormity of the cave. Posted by Picasa
