a work in progress
I found a close-up shot of the house. It'll be nice to have a little distance between the front door and the street again, like we used to when we lived on Clive Terrace.

Most of these small terraced houses had two rooms. Each room had a fireplace. In some, including ours, they knocked the middle wall down and put in a supporting beam to great one larger room. When they did this, they also bricked up the two fireplaces and created one fireplace in the middle of the newly formed large room. In the 1970s they also liked to decorate with wood paneling and lots of ugly bricks!

So, we ripped down the paneling and the bricks. And we've opened up the original fireplace in the front half of the room, and also the two alcoves on either side. (only one is opened up in this picture...in front of where i'm standing.) We've also had to chip the plaster off about 1 metre up from the floor for damp proofing. That's what i'm doing here.
