Snow!!!
We had 4-6 inches of snow during the night and early this morning! The children were so excited. (Well, I was too!) It was a very wet, heavy snow and looked so beautiful. It didn't look so great out the front of our house because all you see is houses and slush on the roads. Later in the morning, Alan shoveled a little trench in the pavement for the water to run down.
But as soon you walk to the end of our street (where the bus is on the picture above) and turn right, this is the scene we saw!
...Do i hear people humming "walking in a winter wonderland!" It's great actually. It's the first significant snow we've had in 2-3 years. In fact, it was Brenin's first time and he was a bit unsure. But we soon persuaded him to climb on our friends' plastic sled and have a little go.
We spent the morning playing in the snow and sledding (or sledging, as they say here) on the former colliery site (coal mine) behind our house with our friend Maria and her children and another friend. Maria and Cerys get ready to careen down the hill!
Lots of people were out walking their dogs and playing. I love the muffled silence of snow. It's amazing how beautiful even a derelict area can look when covered with layer of snow.
